Balance! What is Balance?
It looks different for everyone, but the one common denominator must be God!
For years I tried and tried to get and maintain balance in my life which includes: have five children under the age of 10, being a Co- Pastor of a Church that we planted only a year ago, a side job, serving as the secretary on the PTO so that I can have a say in my children’s lives in school, a wife, and having a relationship with God. These are just a few things that needed balance, not to mention all the others little things we all try to keep up with, dishes, laundry, running for kids or church, I could go on and on. How was I going to do this???
I turned to the Word:
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
One day as I was crying because I was trying so hard to keep up with everything like making sure the house was put together half way nice (toys on the floor, laundry half done folded on the couch and in baskets) getting dinner done, I realized, ok I have this done but my relationship with my husband is lacking. And what about my relationship with the kids? And I am so tired it’s hard to get up and get in my Word in the morning to seek the Lord.
Then the Lord said, “STOP! I am your balance.”
For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13
Once God gave me this simple revelation, that seemed so hard for me to understand at the time, (we get in our own way sometimes), I now have a structure that I now live by continually in my life.
Relationship with God – This is my foundation.
Second: My Marriage – My Husband and our marriage Third: My children their needs and our family Fourth: Our ministry and everything else.
As long as our priorities are straight, putting God first, knowing, loving, and serving Him, everything falls into place and gets done in the exact way it is supposed to.
God equals Balance.
Having the laundry done isn’t God’s top priority, relationships are.
People ask me now how do I do it, and every time I say,” Jesus, if it wasn’t for Him in my life I would be in the insane ward at the hospital.”
When my relationship with Him is lacking then my life starts to fall apart.
Yes, I do keep a schedule in my phone of what I need to do each day and have reminders set to keep me on task. I start my day with seeking the Lord, and studying His Word for my own understanding, (some people may have to do this at different times in the day).
I try to diligently stick to my phone schedule. But if something doesn’t get done, I don’t stress out. I just move it over to the next day. Because I know I have followed the priority list and somethings can wait. And that’s ok. All in the Lords timing. Everyone’s life is going to be different but sticking to the priority list that God gave me is going to help anyone who applies it tremendously.
Remember Matthew 6:33-34
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
And Proverbs 16:11
A just balance and scales are the Lord's; all the weights in the bag are His work.
And if you get anxious remember 1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.
So I say to you STOP!!!!! God Equals Balance!
