The True Reason For Eating Clean - Part Two - Casey Sollock

Welcome Back!  How did last week go? Were you able to practice renewing your mind?  Well, let's jump right back in, here are the final three reasons you should be eating clean!

2. RECONNECT WITH YOUR BODY. Know it, love it, understand it, support it. God gave you a Miracle Machine; when was the last time you thanked Him for it? (Do it now!) Just think about what your liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, and brain do EVERY DAY. It’s truly amazing! What are YOU doing to support their function? Understand how your body works and which foods work in your body. Which foods give you energy? Which foods weigh you down? 

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 

3. ADD IN THE GOOD STUFF. When you add in the good, it crowds out the not-so-good. So, add in what God put on this planet to keep you healthy and happy…fresh leafy greens, fresh fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, and lots of water. 

Staying as close to God as possible with what you eat and drink will make you the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. He knew what He was doing when He put this planet together! He put REAL food here to nourish your body. Let’s get back to His real food! Simple, whole nutrition. It’s not about restriction and denial. It’s about adding in the good. Eventually you will start craving the good. 

Practically speaking, spend lots of time in the perimeter of your grocery store. Shop at your farmer’s market. Choose one-ingredient foods and no-label foods. Cook simple meals at home. 

My favorite thing to ADD IN is a green smoothie each day. I call it “health insurance-in-a-glass,” and it will renew your energy, fill your body with cell-nourishing nutrition, clear brain fog, infuse your body with vitamins and minerals, and make you feel happier! Check out the basic (yet delicious!) green smoothie recipe at the end of this post. 

4. ENGAGE IN YOUR PURPOSE. This is all about health for life purpose. Engaging in your purpose takes your health journey to a deeper level. It’s not just about losing weight and fitting into that swimsuit. It’s about optimizing your health so you can live your purpose with passion and energy. Your health is foundational! 

You are here to do big things. Let your health support it. When you keep your purpose, your WHY, front and center, it makes it easier to make powerful choices for your health each day. (And, it will be easier to engage in your purpose as you clear the connection with God so you can hear from Him more easily.) 

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16 

YOUR FIRST SIMPLE STEP towards reclaiming your health and re-establishing connection with God is to add in a green smoothie a day! It’s alkalizing, energizing, refreshing, and delicious. Here’s your basic green smoothie recipe: 

1 handful of kale 

1 handful of spinach 

A few sprigs of parsley 

1 pear, cut up 

1 apple, cut up 

1 frozen banana 

1.5 cups of water 

Ice (optional) 

Stevia or honey to sweeten (optional) 

Blend water and greens. Then, one by one, add the other ingredients. Ice at the end. Blend until smooth!
